Collection Of Ethnography And Folklore Bicazu Ardelean Bicazu Ardelean

In the school building of Telec ( Pârăul Caprei – The Goat River) it was organized a museum of popular art and ethnography with exhibits that talks extremely suggestive about the oldest times life and occupation of these places inhabitants.

Through the contribution of professor Barna Augustin Marcian and his wife Elena Barna, this ethnography and popular art collection was realized, collection that offers a living immage of the customs and traditions from Bicaz Valley.

From the exhibits of the museum our attention is dragged by the inside textiles characterised to this area as well as the pieces of traditional popular costumes together with the house tools used by the villagers. The popular costumes impress through the artistic skill with which they are made, white as the milk foam and with black, yellow, green, blue sewings, and the fur-coats have the eye - captivating sewings applied directly on the lamb skin.

We can also admire traditional masks that belong to the village customs, the most frequently encounted being the goat’s costumation that is made up from a Romanian carpet decorated with national motifs, ribbons, mirrors and pearls in long chains.

Here we can also see the traditional forms of a house specific to the mountain village, and of a sheepfold settle on a pasture made up from a single room which has in one part the chimney and the holder of the bucket for boiling the whey from which the cheese is made, and, in the other part, the kettle for polenta.

All these represent an interesting dowry of the customs and traditions of this area that are still kept today in the neighbouring villages.
