Presentation - Otilia Cazimir Memorial House Iasi

Some verses, engraved on a white marble plaque, mounted on the exterior wall of the building, are transmitting Otilia Cazimir's message, the writer who permanently admired the world through the eyes of a sensitive child, fascinated by nature : "Where is my heart, you, flowers / It was offered to everyone, long time ago / When I'll go, when I'll pass away, / For you I'll be late, on my way, / To tear off, to steal, to bring to you / A thought, a dream, a verse ..."

In the building of the 19-th century, which became, since 1949, the first headquarters of the Romanian Writers Society Iasi subsidiary, was inaugurated, in 1972, "Otilia Cazimir" Memorial House, with a hall and two rooms. There are exhibited furniture, personal objects, icons, books, manuscripts. The photographs with family members, friends and contemporary writers, paintings (picture and graphic) signed by Victor Mihailescu Craiu, N. Ciochina, Constantin Nicolae, George Topirceanu, Th. Cheveresanu, Rezus (representing Otilia Cazimir's portraits, flowers, the house where she lived since 1898 until 1967), the illustrations for the novel "Luchi is Dead ... ", signed by Mihailescu Adriana, all these things recreate the atmosphere of a modest house. Otilia Cazimir's first editions are also exhibited ("Verses", "Prose Writings", "The Old Winter Comes to the Village", "Toys", "Luchi is Dead" , "My Friends, the Writers", near by the member card of the Writers Society (1949). Otilia Cazimir translated from English, French and Russian literature and, during the period 1937 - 1947, she was the director of the Theatres Inspection from Moldavia.
