Presentation - "sfantul Stefan Voda" (St. Stephen Voda) Monastery Of Vad Vad

Vad Monastery is situated in the village of the same name, located at about 12 km from the city of Dej. In the 16th and 17th centuries, here worked an Orthodox bishopric and a monastery, supported by the Moldavian voivode, Stephen the Great (1433-1504) and his son, Petru Rares.

The stone church is dedicated to “The Assumption”, with a Moldavian triconch plan, being extended to the west with a narthex. One can note the western portal and the one from the vessel, and the gothic windows.

Currently the Archdiocese of Vad, Feleac and Cluj decided the shift to the status of monastery dedicated to “St. Stephen Voda”.
